Job Description

• Amazon Applied Science Internship focused on Natural Language Processing and Speech Technologies, based in Seattle, WA, with additional internship locations in Bellevue, Boston, Cambridge, New York, Santa Clara, and Sunnyvale; work mode is not specified.
• Develop and implement novel, scalable algorithms and modeling techniques for NLP, speech recognition, text-to-speech, question answering, conversational modeling, and related AI research using production-scale data.
• Research and apply NLP/NLU, LLMs, reinforcement learning with human feedback, deep learning, speech recognition, conversational AI, multimodal learning, LSTM and transformer-based models, signal processing, information extraction, audio processing, speaker detection, and multilingual modeling.
• Must be enrolled in a PhD, able to relocate, available for a full-time 40-hour-per-week internship for the entire internship, and demonstrate research depth through publications, thesis work, or equivalent contributions.
• Requires Python programming, with C++ or Java where applicable; preferred qualifications include peer-reviewed publications, experiment design and statistical analysis, speech/machine translation/NLP systems experience, PyTorch, HuggingFace, speech/audio frameworks, and AI-assisted development tools. Compensation is 135,660.00 USD annually.
