2027 Machine Learning Center of Excellence (NLP) - Summer Associate

Job Description

• Summer Associate internship applying advanced LLM and agentic AI methods to NLP, question answering, speech, reinforcement learning, post-training, and recommendation problems in financial services.
• Own a research project from start to finish, performing exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, model development, and evaluation on structured and unstructured datasets.
• Design agentic AI prototypes and multi-step tool-using workflows; apply prompting, embeddings, retrieval-augmented generation, tool/function calling, fine-tuning, and agent harness design.
• Build evaluation frameworks measuring LLM and agent quality, reliability, and safety; document reproducible results and present findings to technical and business audiences.
• Requires current enrollment in a PhD or MS program in a quantitative field with expected graduation between December 2027 and August 2028, strong Python/PyTorch or TensorFlow skills, Hugging Face and core data-library experience, and hybrid work in New York, Seattle, or Palo Alto.
