Assistant Professor of English (American Literature after 1865)

Job Description

• Tenure-track Assistant Professor teaching three courses per semester, with a 3/2 teaching load during the first two years, in American literature after 1865 and related undergraduate- and graduate-level subjects.
• Maintain an active research agenda in American literature; preference for specialization in African-American, Southern, or Latinx literature.
• Advise students in the English Education program and English Education double major; participate in recruitment and curriculum development.
• Requires an earned PhD in English from an accredited institution by August 21, 2027; ABD candidates may be considered if the doctorate is conferred by the start date.
• Requires demonstrated Secondary English Education background and an on-site presence at the Huntsville, TX campus; position is security-sensitive and subject to a Texas Education Code §51.215 criminal history background check.
