Backend Engineer (Remote Opportunity)

Job Description

• Full-time, 100% remote Backend Engineer role with VetsEZ supporting a large federal government healthcare modernization project; candidates must reside within the continental US.
• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize secure, scalable backend services, RESTful APIs, enterprise integrations, business logic, data access layers, and service-to-service communications using Java, Spring Boot, SQL, and CI/CD practices.
• Collaborate with architects, frontend, QA, DevSecOps, and product teams in Agile delivery; contribute to design, estimation, code reviews, troubleshooting, releases, production support, monitoring, and observability.
• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience plus at least 5 years of backend software engineering or enterprise application development experience.
• Requires U.S. citizenship, successful background check, and ability to obtain and maintain a Government/Public Trust clearance with fingerprinting when required; healthcare integrations, FHIR, AWS, InterSystems IRIS, federal programs, and relevant certifications are preferred or desirable.
