Commercial Lines Underwriter

Job Description

• Evaluate, price, and manage commercial insurance risks involving new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations within assigned authority.
• Analyze exposures, loss history, financial information, coverage needs, coverage forms, and loss analysis to determine terms, conditions, and pricing.
• Manage a commercial book of business, monitor portfolio changes, support renewal and risk-improvement strategies, and identify cross-sell opportunities.
• Collaborate with agents, brokers, Sales, Claims, and Operations; communicate decisions and escalate complex or out-of-authority risks.
• Maintain compliance with underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and audit standards while supporting audits, documentation quality, and workflow improvements.
• Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 2–5+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience, knowledge of small commercial and/or middle market accounts, and preferred AU, ARM, or CPCU progress/designation.
