Job Description
• Full-time hybrid Criminal Defense Investigator / Legal Assistant role with the Law Office of Donald L. Scales in Medford, OR; the posting also states “Work Location: In person.”
• Investigate criminal defense cases by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, reviewing case files, and maintaining detailed investigation records.
• Support attorneys with legal research, case management, document review, filing, legal drafting, discovery, exhibits, trial preparation, and deadline management.
• Requires paralegal or prior legal-support experience; prior investigative, legal, law-enforcement, or legal-support experience is preferred, with criminal defense or Oregon legal-system experience a plus.
• DPSST-licensed investigator preferred; nonlicensed qualified applicants may be able to obtain licensure. Must pass a background check and meet requirements to visit clients in jail; valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
• Compensation is $50,000–$65,000 per year; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems, confidentiality, sound judgment, organization, and communication skills are required.
