District Geologist

Job Description

• Supports INDOT transportation projects in the La Porte District by evaluating subsurface conditions, geologic materials, aggregate sources, soils, and geotechnical risks.
• Leads or assists site investigations, field teams, quarry visits, geologic sampling, geophysical work, and construction-material evaluations.
• Produces technical reports, correspondence, data analyses, plans, recommendations, and regulatory or enforcement documentation.
• Administers and monitors the district-level Certified Aggregate Producers Program (CAPP) and ensures aggregate sources comply with INDOT specifications and guidelines.
• Requires a bachelor's or advanced degree in geology or a related discipline; Indiana Professional Geologist licensure is preferred; knowledge of AASHTO, ASTM, Indiana Test Methods, INDOT specifications, and equipment such as LWD and DCPT is required.
