Job Description

• Direct the ALS Biobank within the Division of Neuromuscular Disease as an open-rank, open-tenure faculty position at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, AL.
• Oversee collection, processing, storage, governance, and distribution of DNA and other biospecimens to approved internal and external investigators.
• Maintain IRB approvals and reporting, support regulatory compliance, and manage data governance for ALS Biobank research activities.
• Collect and record family history, clinical, muscle biopsy, biomarker, and genetic data; maintain and integrate the REDCap database.
• Formulate research questions, collaborate with biostatisticians on analytical datasets, and liaise with other ALS Centers.
• Requires a PhD in neuroscience, biological science, computational biology, or a related field and 3 years of research experience; a pre-employment background check is required.
