Job Description

• Sherman Oaks Hospital is hiring an HIM Tech III/Release of Information Clerk in Van Nuys, CA; the role is full-time, day shift, and on-site in an acute-care hospital setting.
• Accept and process requests for patient health information, including legal medical records and fetal monitor strips, from patients, third parties, providers, attorneys, mortuaries, and other authorized parties within mandated timeframes.
• Ensure compliance with Federal HIPAA, state Consent and Release of Information Laws, hospital policies, minimum-necessary disclosure requirements, and medical staff documentation regulations.
• Maintain transaction records, support accounting-of-disclosures requests, and complete accurate billing, payment recording, and deposit submission.
• Requires at least 1 year of HIM experience in an acute-care setting, at least 6 months of direct release-of-information experience, and a high school diploma or equivalent; salary estimate is $24.17–$27.56/hr.
