Job Description
• Full-time Instructional Assistant supporting students with moderate to intensive special needs in a therapeutic day school serving a high-needs population.
• Provide behavioral and learning support, classroom instruction, monitoring, de-escalation, and non-violent physical restraint strategies for students with autism and/or social-emotional or behavioral needs.
• Assist teachers with lessons, small-group instruction, curriculum activities, daily living skills, transitions, clerical work, supervision, planning, and substitute-teacher support.
• Transport and actively supervise students during field trips and community-based activities; lift and carry classroom equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Requires experience working with children with special needs, a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and CPI/nonviolent crisis intervention certification maintained after hire.
• Work schedule is 183 days; hours are governed by the CBA. Salary is commensurate with experience and degree of education.
