Leave Replacement Teacher of Social Studies

Job Description

• Teach middle school students various courses within the Social Studies Department at South Orange Middle School in Maplewood, NJ.
• Provide classroom instructional leadership, implement curriculum, address individual student needs, and use appropriate instructional methods and materials.
• Assess student performance, issue progress reports, identify students needing additional support, and maintain high expectations for performance and behavior.
• Requires New Jersey Teacher of Social Studies Certification, a criminal history background check, and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident/immigrant status; secondary-level teaching experience is preferred.
• Full-time 1.0 FTE, 10-month leave replacement assignment available January 22, 2027 through June 2027; salary ranges from $70,000 to $118,450 depending on degree level, per the SOMEA Agreement.
