Medical Laboratory Scientist I - Microbiology

Job Description

• Perform microbiology laboratory testing in Quest Diagnostics' Lenexa, KS department on a rotating 3:00pm–1:30am schedule; full-time role.
• Handle and process specimens, analyze routine cultures, maintain patient and proficiency-testing records, and review/release results.
• Operate Copan WaspLab AI automation, Colibri instruments, MALDI-TOF slide processing, and Vitek sample-dilution systems; mycology and AFB laboratory work may be included.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, laboratory quality, safety, and performance procedures, escalating and correcting issues that could affect test performance or result reporting.
• Requires a BS in Medical Technology preferred; alternatives include a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or qualification under 42 CFR 493; one year of high-complexity clinical experience and ASCP certification are preferred.
