Job Description

• Full-time, on-site Pipe Fitter Trainee role with Huntington Ingalls/Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, VA; multiple shifts and no telework.
• No trades experience required, but candidates must complete a 3-week, 120-hour unpaid Pipefitter training program at Tidewater Community College in Portsmouth, VA, Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
• Assemble, weld, secure, fabricate, install, inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair ship piping systems while learning to read blueprints.
• Work may involve outdoor, year-round conditions; extreme heights; scaffolding, ladders, and elevated platforms; and tight, confined ship spaces.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, pass a background investigation, drug screen, and physical agility test; lift at least 40 pounds; perform overhead work; wear a respirator while clean shaven; work overtime and any shift.
• Salary range: $59,675.20–$62,067.20; no security clearance is required to start.
