Staff Software Engineer, Finance Automation

Job Description

• Staff-level, hands-on software engineering role on Toast’s Finance AI & Automation team within the Office of the CFO; remote position with a stated hybrid work model.
• Architect, code, and operate Kotlin/JVM and AWS backend microservices, data pipelines, and internal operator tools that automate finance workflows.
• Productionize LLM and agentic prototypes with monitoring, permissions, audit trails, automated error handling, and practical judgment about agent versus traditional system design.
• Build integrations across billing platforms, ERP systems, Salesforce, data warehouses, and Toast services using Apache Camel, Apache Pulsar, DynamoDB, Dropwizard, and equivalent technologies.
• Engineer for SOX, PCI, data-access, Security, Compliance, and Audit controls; extensive fintech, revenue systems, reconciliation, or finance operations experience is preferred.
• Requires proven Staff or senior lead-level distributed-systems experience, advanced Kotlin/JVM and AWS expertise, strong SQL/data-engineering skills, and exceptional technical writing and stakeholder communication.
